Stonehenge, Wiltshire, England
We see here the most continuously undamaged portion of the circle. In true carpentry fashion, each vertical stone has two carved protrusions on its top, and each horizontal stone has a carved out recesses designed to mate with the appropriate protrusions. This mortise-and-tenon technique is the
reason many parts of Stonehenge have remained intact through the ages. The carving was done with stones as tools; quite remarkable in and of itself.
