Uffington White Horse, Wiltshire Plain, England
The Uffington White Horse is some 3000 years old. The ancients, whose totem animal this was, dug down through the overlying sod to carve the Horse in the limestone chalk earth below. Primarily oriented skyward, the carving measures 360' across and 80' in height. One of England's best preserved antiquities, the Horse has undergone a ritual scouring every 7 years.
