Evident in this photo are some of the thousands of cloth strips, called Clouties, which are left as offerings and pleas to the Goddess at the many wells throughout Europe. For many millennia the beseeching visitor has ripped a strip from their own clothing, tying it then to the sacred tree above the hallowed well. As the fabric disintegrates over time, the illness dissipates, or the request manifests. The naturally occurring radiation is at a high level here. Some visitors find themselves
